Since When "Thank You" Is A Fault?

Did you realised the word "thank you" was written in red? Well, apparently someone from the Star newspaper decided to write an article on how un-English it was to use the pharse in a letter or email. Yup, UN-ENGLISH! Shoudn't they filter those articles before publishing them?

Well first up, it was rather a very un-Kelvin matter to read newspaper. So when I do read the news of the day, it was quite frustrating to note such article being posted. For as long as my life, I thought that by saying (or writing) thank you was a very nice and polite way to others. I didn't know that it was un-English, until yesterday at least.

I have been writing to people across Australia and Germany, most of them being customers and contractors but never felt that the expression of gratitude was so "wrong".

Though the particular article explains the reason of why using "thank you" was un-English, I just could not apprehend the reasons given. Same goes to the usage of the "Dear..." expression. Why do we refer to someone who is not that dear to us after all?

I could feel that much of negativity exuding from that article. Just my 2 cents.

I Was On The Radio

I was driving back from the clinic after getting to know from the Doctor that the pain I had on the back of my neck was actually due to lack of sleep, when the DJ on Red FM raised such a familiar story... CATFIGHTS!

I just can't help myself than to just pickup the phone and dial straight to the station. And so I gave him a piece of my mind!

English For More Opportunities

Its the Star's collaboration with Red FM in effort to improve English standards among Malaysians through the "Word Outta" segment every morning in the radio. So Sarimah or Lil Kev will introduce a new word everyday and give examples of its usage.

Effective? NOT!

5 seconds after they announce the new word, I don't even remember what the word even was! What more its definition.

Haha... Just my 2 cents and half on this issue. Don't make it a controversy pulak...

But seriously, English is one of the way to success. Being literal in English simply gives you that competitive edge to propel forward.

But again, will try to be very careful when we put across thoughts and opinion in blog nowadays.

CNY 2013

Yes, CNY is like 32 days away and I have got lots to be done before that. This would be the year that red is finally allowed during CNY (thank God!). So be enough of the mourning and lets celebrate this year.

Celebrating CNY in my family is like running a Celine Dion's world tour! Everything will need to be done exactly the way it should be done but NOTHING else! Strict rules applies and very articulated choices of materials are required for a prosperous year ahead.

My list of preparations? As follow...

Clothes? I already had them ready like two months ago!

Pantone

Little did we know, the world is full of colours and hence, these colours will need to be distinguished and be categorized by someone somehow eventually.

I was browsing through the Valentino Spring collection recently, and it was from there that I came to know that the colour of 2013 is Emerald, that is according to Pantone.

So who is this Pantone thingy?

After some quick check, apparently Pantone is the world's colour setter, just like how Victoria Beckham did her bob and M.C. Hammer's pants. And so they say that 2013 belongs to Emerald Green.

For me, no way I am wearing green for CNY. But, at least my work uniform is "in-trend'!

The Monday Drama

Broke my tooth yesterday. So, I had to skip a wedding dinner. My mother had to ride on a neighbour's car.

So what did I do?

Haha... Watched the annual 27th Edition of Juara Lagu. For the past 3-4 years, I had not been a fan. But this year's songs were very much my taste!

Results that I agree and don't quite agree.

Agreed! Well deserved and the rendition by Aizat was very Merci Beucoup ala P. Ramlee. Refreshing indeed.Plus, that cup of coffee looks tempting.

So I headed to the dentist this morning and it cost me a pain in the wallet (and my whole mouth!). Oouch...   But this Monday drama is the least of what the week has installed for me! Cheerios!

Yes, I am. But please, I am going off for a long getaway tonight, so that means I could not make it by tomorrow morning.

Plus, dreaming of Australia yesterday was a pure pleasure. Its a calling I would say. Just that this "dream" will have to wait till my next paycheck comes in.

Apparently according to Valentino, green and earthy tone is the next "in" colour for the year 2013, not military green though. So, bergaya-lah saya pagi-pagi buta today to work.

And yes, I got myself a "man-bag" that caught some suspicious thoughts of many few. Its merely a bag, made to look like a tote. Ok what?

Was cruising through this channel this morning. Nice, slow, old songs...

So am I free this Sunday? I am thinking of getting myself a spa treat. See lah how first...
